The original school was built in 1841 at a cost of £300. Over the years various parts have been added including an excellent playing field in 1962. In 1976 the new block was opened and has provided room for four classes. Since the beginning of 2002, one of these classrooms has been designated an ICT suite. The old school building was completely refurbished in the late 1990s and now houses the Infant Department. September 2004 saw the completion of the 'link' building between the old and new buildings. The link houses a new administration block and staffroom.

At present the school is organised into five classes catering for children aged 4-11 year of age.

The school itself has very close links to St. Sebastian's church. The school is situated next door to St. Sebastian's Church.

Saint Sebastian was a Roman Captain who was famous for converting many people to Christianity. Diocletian who was the Emperor at the time found out and had him shot with arrows. According to the story he was nursed back to health and went back to confront the Emperor who then had him beaten to death.
